One of John Baldessari's weird ways of art was using dots to get rid of people's faces. People say that removing people's faces from pictures make us look at other things in the image, because apparently, the human mind focuses on flesh, or likes to look at another human in an image. If you get rid of the face of a person in an image, you will (trust Baldessari) look at other parts of the image. As you can see, in the image below, covering the faces of characters in an image automatically make the viewer look at other parts of the image, usually at first glance humans tend to look at the facial characteristics of people or 'things' in an image.
